Emberlight – Formerly the Center for Conscious Living & Dying, Emberlight is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the way we approach dying, death, and grief through compassionate, community-centered care. Through residential end-of-life support, education, caregiver resources, and contemplative programs, Emberlight helps individuals and families navigate life’s final transition with dignity, presence, and love.
Pema Chödrön – Leading exponent of teachings on meditation and how they apply to everyday life. She is widely known for her charming and down-to-earth interpretation of Tibetan Buddhism for Western audiences.
Joan Halifax Roshi – Buddhist teacher, Zen priest, anthropologist, and author. She is Founder, Abbot, and Head Teacher of Upaya Zen Center, a Buddhist monastery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has worked in the area of death and dying for over thirty years and is Director of the Project on Being with Dying.

Medical Alert devices are invaluable for aging adults, individuals who have special health needs, and for those seeking the security of assistance being available at all times.
National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization serves as the national charity and voice for philanthropy at the end of life with media, consumers, elected leaders, and government officials. NHPCO develops resources, tools, and information to educate and empower individuals to access advance care planning, care giving, hospice and grief services, and information. The organization is now called National Alliance for Care at Home.
Rigpa – An international network of more than 100 Buddhist centers and groups in over 20 countries, dedicated to making the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism accessible in the modern world. Founded by Sogyal Rinpoche, author of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, Rigpa offers meditation, study programs, retreats, and teachings that support compassionate living, personal transformation, and spiritual practice.
Barbara Karnes, RN is an internationally recognized author, speaker, thought leader, and expert on end-of-life care and the dynamics of dying. She is a renowned authority on the dying process and a leading educator for families, healthcare professionals, and the community at large. Barbara’s experience as a hospice care provider and administrator led to the 1985 publication of Gone from My Sight: The Dying Experience.
